Lead Architect — Defence ICT (ARCH Level 6)
The Directorate of Modernisation, Assurance and Technical Integration (MATI) requires a Lead Architect to oversee the end-to-end design and implementation of secure ICT systems for Defence.
Overview
This role is responsible for developing the system architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, and incorporating cybersecurity principles throughout the design process. The Lead Architect coordinates system testing, manages installation and integration, and leads the set-to-work phase ensuring systems are configured and operational before transition into service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own end-to-end system architecture for secure Defence ICT solutions
- Ensure alignment with Defence Enterprise Architecture and endorsed design standards
- Incorporate cybersecurity principles, Defence security policies and accreditation requirements into all architecture decisions
- Lead the set-to-work phase ensuring systems are configured, optimised and operational
- Coordinate system testing to validate functionality, performance and resilience
- Manage installation and integration of components within the operational environment
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the architecture team
- Produce architectural documentation, design artefacts and interface control documents
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualifications, certifications or demonstrated experience designing secure gateway solutions for Defence or government environments
- Current NV1 security clearance (or above)
Desirable Criteria
- TOGAF certification
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- CISSP or SABSA certification
Work Arrangements
On-site at HMAS Harman, Canberra ACT 2600. Government furnished facilities including a Defence PC on the DPN/DSN network will be provided. NTE price model, contract to 30 June 2027 with up to 3 x 12-month extension options.
