Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to support cost assurance and commercial administration activities within a complex defence program environment. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of a major shipbuilding program. The role is based full time in Adelaide, South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed assessment, analysis and financial investigation of cost data within an invoice management process, ensuring the integrity, validity and accuracy of supplier claims.
- Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex financial issues, influencing outcomes across the branch and broader work areas.
- Lead the development of a Program Delivery cost framework, including the initial setup of cost review systems and processes.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders in the development and ongoing management of program cost estimates.
- Support updates to Tasking Statements and Contract documentation.
- Identify critical administrative, project and business cost risks and determine appropriate courses of action to meet stakeholder requirements.
- Provide commercial and financial administration support for contract and procurement activities, including invoice and purchase order management, verification and approval of goods and services, and procurement request support.
- Gather and report payment data from suppliers and provide advice and guidance to stakeholders as required.
- Develop and implement procedural, operational and business support documentation consistent with program requirements.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders, actively contributing to teamwork and group activities.
Work Environment
This is a fast-paced role operating within a complex program environment with demanding deadlines. Extended working hours will be required at times. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing shifting priorities and delivering quality outputs under pressure.
Key Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, cost assurance or commercial administration within a large program or project environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex cost data and identify discrepancies or risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with invoice management, purchase order processing and procurement support.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Prior exposure to defence, shipbuilding or major capital programs highly regarded.
Contract Details
- Duration: 27 July 2026 – 30 June 2027 + 2 x 1-year extensions (max 230 working days per financial year)
- Location: Port Adelaide, SA (full time on-site — candidates must be based in Adelaide)
- Security Clearance: Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) minimum
- Rate: $1,750.00 / day (incl. GST and margin) — Project Costing Services / Program Management Services Level 3
