Overview
The Project Scheduler forms part of a dedicated team maintaining and advancing the Phase 3 Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for the SSN-AUKUS program. Working within the Program Controls Directorate, this role requires advanced scheduling expertise, the ability to manage complex dependencies across national and international stakeholders, and a commitment to schedule integrity and governance uplift across the program.
Key Duties and Deliverables
- Develop and maintain the Phase 3 Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) using data from internal stakeholders, Defence industry partners, and trilateral government partners (US and UK)
- Continuously update and refine the IMS in alignment with program requirements, scheduling standards, and governance frameworks, ensuring ongoing schedule integrity and auditability
- Translate complex acquisition pathways, engineering activities, and major program deliverables into a logically linked, resource-constrained, and time-phased schedule
- Conduct critical path, near-critical path, and schedule health analyses to support evidence-based senior leadership decision-making and program governance
- Map, analyse, and manage dependencies and integration points across SSN-AUKUS-related projects and activities; manage schedule baselines including logic, durations, constraints, and assumptions
- Identify trends, schedule slippage, and emerging issues; integrate schedule risks, mitigations, and controls into the IMS to enable effective schedule risk management
- Maintain and manage schedule data within Open Plan Professional, ensuring data integrity across all schedule artefacts
- Support development of standardised scheduling practices including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), scheduling conventions, and schedule management plans
- Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to ASA APS and ADF personnel to uplift Divisional scheduling capability over the engagement
- Provide stakeholder engagement and liaison with internal and external stakeholders in complex, sensitive, and security-constrained environments
Essential Criteria
- Active NV1 (or above) AGSVA security clearance
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules on complex Defence or major infrastructure programs
- Proficiency in Open Plan Professional or equivalent enterprise scheduling tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct critical path analysis, schedule risk analysis, and dependency mapping across complex, multi-workstream programs
- Experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment with national and international partners
- Strong analytical and communication skills — ability to synthesise complex schedule data for technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable Criteria
- Experience on major Defence capability acquisition programs, particularly submarine, naval, or aerospace programs
- Familiarity with the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) and ASA or CASG program governance frameworks
- Relevant tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, or a related discipline
- AIPM membership or project management certification (PMP, Prince2 Practitioner, or equivalent)
