Overview
The Logistics Engineer will support the Support Systems Directorate within the SSN-AUKUS Support Branch, leading the front-end Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) effort for Australia's SSN-AUKUS program. This is a senior technical role requiring deep expertise in ILS methodology, sustainment strategy, and lifecycle cost optimisation for complex Defence platforms. Key Duties and Deliverables
- Lead the front-end Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) effort, establishing the overarching logistics strategy for the SSN-AUKUS program
- Define the LSA program framework that guides industry partners in the development of high-quality support system deliverables
- Ensure logistics and sustainment considerations are embedded early in the system lifecycle to provide a coherent, evidence-based foundation for downstream sustainment planning
- Define, validate, and align support and maintenance obligations with operational requirements to enable a robust and sustainable support system across the platform lifecycle
- Develop optimised maintenance strategies that reduce lifecycle cost and operational risk while improving system dependability, availability, and sustainability
- Provide clear, defensible support and maintenance obligations aligned to operational needs and compliant with Defence and AUKUS partner standards
Essential Criteria
- Active NV1 (or above) AGSVA security clearance
- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, logistics, or a related technical discipline
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) or Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) on major Defence capability programs
- Understanding of sustainment planning, lifecycle cost modelling, and maintenance strategy development for complex platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively with industry partners and government stakeholders to define and validate support system requirements
Desirable Criteria
- Direct experience on submarine, naval, or aerospace platform ILS programs
- Familiarity with AUKUS partner-nation (UK, US) logistics and sustainment frameworks
- Experience in ITAR-controlled or export-controlled Defence environments
- Chartered or Professional Engineer status
