Technical Writer — Defence ICT (INCA Level 3)
The Directorate of Modernisation, Assurance and Technical Integration (MATI) requires a Technical Writer to develop comprehensive documentation and artefacts to establish and maintain ICT system baselines for Defence.
Overview
The Technical Writer will collaborate with technical and project teams to develop documentation required to establish functional, allocated and product ICT system baselines. This role also designs and implements structured processes to ensure documentation remains current throughout the system lifecycle using the ITSM change process as the governance mechanism.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce documentation and artefacts to establish functional, allocated and product ICT system baselines
- Act as a communication bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ensure clarity and consistency across all documentation
- Design and implement a structured documentation update process using the ITSM change framework
- Maintain and update documentation to reflect system changes, upgrades and incident responses
- Collaborate with architects, security teams and project managers
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications, certifications or demonstrated experience as a technical writer
- Familiarity with enterprise ICT environments (servers, networks, cloud, security frameworks)
- Proficiency with documentation tools (MS Word, Visio, SharePoint)
- Current NV1 security clearance (or above)
Desirable Criteria
- ITIL Foundation
- Experience working with architects, security teams and project managers
Work Arrangements
On-site at HMAS Harman, Canberra ACT 2600. Government furnished facilities including a Defence PC on the DPN/DSN network will be provided.
