Compute Specialist (Wintel) — Defence ICT (ITOP Level 3)
The Directorate of Modernisation, Assurance and Technical Integration (MATI) requires a Compute Specialist to support the design, build and maintenance of secure Windows server environments underpinning DSCB systems.
Overview
Working under guidance of senior engineers, this role involves server provisioning, configuration and hardening, Active Directory and Group Policy management, and Level 3 support post-deployment. The Compute Specialist will ensure continuity of service and support the operational readiness of JCG systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support server provisioning, configuration and hardening in line with Defence standards
- Assist with Active Directory integration and Group Policy management
- Contribute to system testing and preparation of operational artefacts (SOPs and runbooks)
- Provide Level 3 support for incidents and changes under ITIL processes
- Perform routine patching and health checks
- Maintain security posture in accordance with Defence standards and ISM requirements
- Collaborate with network and cybersecurity teams to validate configurations
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications, certifications or demonstrated experience in building and administering physical and virtual machines (e.g. Bachelor degree in IT, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VCP)
- Current NV1 security clearance (or above)
Desirable Criteria
- Familiarity with Australian Government ISM, ASD Essential Eight and Defence security frameworks
- ITIL Foundation
Work Arrangements
On-site at HMAS Harman, Canberra ACT 2600. Government furnished facilities including a Defence PC on the DPN/DSN network will be provided.
