Senior DataBase Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer to design, implement, optimise and support enterprise database environments across complex ICT systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database platforms are secure, reliable, scalable and fit for operational requirements.

This role requires strong technical capability across database administration, performance tuning, automation, data migration, backup and recovery, and secure configuration. The position is suited to a hands-on database specialist who can operate in complex environments and work closely with infrastructure, application, cyber security and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for:

Designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise database platforms.
Managing database availability, performance, resilience and security.
Performing database administration, patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.
Developing and maintaining backup, restore and disaster recovery processes.
Supporting database migration, replication, integration and modernisation activities.
Monitoring database health, capacity, performance and operational risk.
Tuning SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures and database configurations.
Troubleshooting complex database incidents and performance issues.
Implementing security controls, access management and audit requirements.
Supporting automation of database deployment, monitoring and administration tasks.
Producing technical documentation, operational procedures and design artefacts.
Working with application, infrastructure, network and cyber teams to support system delivery.
