Network Support Specialist — Defence ICT (NTAS Level 5)

The Directorate of Modernisation, Assurance and Technical Integration (MATI) requires a Network Support Specialist to provide operational and technical support for Defence ICT networks, ensuring availability, performance and security.

Overview

This role involves monitoring network infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving incidents, and implementing approved changes to maintain service continuity and compliance with Defence architecture and security policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network infrastructure and diagnose and resolve incidents
  • Implement approved changes to maintain service continuity and compliance
  • Perform routine maintenance, apply security patches and assist with configuration updates
  • Support fault isolation and troubleshooting activities
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes and resolutions within the ITSM tool
  • Collaborate with network designers, architects and cybersecurity teams
  • Support integration activities and contribute to risk assessments
  • Prepare technical documentation including configuration guides and operational procedures

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications, certifications or demonstrated experience in building complex networks (e.g. Bachelor degree in IT, CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP)
  • Current NV1 security clearance (or above)

Desirable Criteria

  • Familiarity with Australian Government ISM, ASD Essential Eight and Defence security frameworks
  • ITIL Foundation

Work Arrangements

On-site at HMAS Harman, Canberra ACT 2600. Government furnished facilities including a Defence PC on the DPN/DSN network will be provided.
