Project Manager — Defence ICT (PRMG Level 4)
The Directorate of Modernisation, Assurance and Technical Integration (MATI) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide comprehensive governance, oversight and management of Defence ICT infrastructure across nine sites spanning six locations.
Overview
This role provides strategic leadership and operational support to the MATI Estate team and ADF/APS stakeholders, ensuring effective risk mitigation and timely issue resolution through disciplined project management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and governance of the DSCB estate program across multiple sites and locations
- Lead and support the MATI Estate team and key ADF/APS stakeholders
- Manage SEG sponsor-funded projects within Defence facilities
- Ensure buildings remain fit-for-purpose through monitoring of HVAC capacity, power availability and rack space utilisation
- Minimise operational disruption to ADF exercises and operations during facility works
- Drive delivery of current priority initiatives including the CRCO Project, VCRIM Project, DEFCOMMSTA Brisbane Phase 2 (EST08224) and Harman Redevelopment Projects EST2150 and N2286
- Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies across the program
- Report to key stakeholders on program status, risks and outcomes
Essential Criteria
- Project management qualification, certification or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Demonstrated experience in ICT project delivery within complex environments
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
- High-level risk management and problem-solving capability
- Current NV1 security clearance (or above)
Desirable Criteria
- PRINCE2 Practitioner
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g. SAFe, Scrum Master)
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- Familiarity with Defence security frameworks (ISM, PSPF, DISP)
- Experience with Defence procurement processes
Work Arrangements
On-site at HMAS Harman, Canberra ACT 2600. Government furnished facilities including a Defence PC on the DPN/DSN network will be provided. Remote work is not available for this position.
Security Requirements
Minimum NV1 security clearance required. DISP membership required (Entry Level — Governance, Physical, Personnel and Cyber). All work to be performed at a Commonwealth-accredited facility.
